I figured the school I have been working in could offer a social working class elective several times a week. This could allow the social worker to come into the class for a half an hour and could talk to each student. The school I work at has a license social worker but sadly she only sees a few students who also only get nursing services as well. I strongly feel if we want to minimize behavior problems then all of our students whom display behavior problems or not should be seen be our SW; because happy children can become angry too. Also our school does not have art, music, nor any free after or other school electives. We do however, have cheer and basketball, in which both programs allow students on the teams are required to “try out” being selected which only leads to the fearful child never trying out or the angry child only displaying more aggression when he or she is not selected. More so, our schools does have a few clubs; a book club (one must pay a small fee of five dollars, also are required to read to stay in) and we also have the social club also a small fee of five dollars. Hence one may think 5 dollars is a small forgetful fee but coming from a home where 5 dollars is 500 this child misses out on socializing. My points are that in a title one school if we want to see behavior problems lessened we need to encourage more free programs with no tryouts. An art class where all artwork is displayed and all children have a chance to attend even when they do not make honor or have went the whole semester without seeing the principle.

Annually, this program reaches over six million students, primarily in the elementary grades. In my educational prospective meeting a child emotional well-being should come first on this list but sadly this is not the case. WE HAVE A CHOICE!!!
